External walls of Amadeo II ground floor with Klimabloc Despite the festivities and the cold and snowy days, Amadeo II progressed remarquably during the past month. The external walls of the ground floor have been raised completely and the first floor slab has been done on one side. The other will follow in the coming days. Zorka Opeka Klimabloc are excellent blocs and the work goes really well.

Winter has come to Belgrade in the form of heavy snow falls last December and bitter cold this January. Working on a construction site under those conditions is not easy. Yet we successfully raised the first floor of Amadeo II. We work with Klimabloc 38 for the external walls and with Klimabloc 25 for the load bearing interior walls. Both products are from Zorka Opeka.

We will come back to the details of working with Klimabloc later, when we start the next floor. In the meantime, we can say that working with Klimabloc is very similar to what we experienced with Porotherm before. Blocks are beautiful, very sturdy and the connective system between them is very good.

We did window lintels the same way as we did for Amadeo. All vertical and horizontal reinforcements that are done with concrete are fully insulated on both side using Tarolit 5cm.

Corners are made using a specific corner element from Zorka Opeka. We will come back to it in another article.

The insulation of the external side of the slab is also done with Tarolit 5cm to prevent any thermal bridge.

Klimabloc 25 is actually the same dimensions as Klimabloc 38 but is used turned on the long side so that the thickness of the resulting wall is 25cm instead of being 38cm. Their structure is also different.

Klimabloc 25 is a beautiful block. It is even more sturdy than Klimabloc 38 and cutting it is not easy but manageable with a circular saw.
