So, why is it so fantastic to live in Veliki Mokri Lug? Why would somebody live in Veliki Mokri Lug? And where is it anyway? You may not know... we didn't either when we came to Belgrade. We don't count anymore, how many times somebody came to see us from another part of Belgrade and told us how nice this area is. So if you don't know Veliki Mokri Lug, you may actually miss something. Read on to learn why...

Where is it?

Veliki Mokri Lug is a neighborhood of Belgrade that is part of the municipality of Zvezdara. It is located in the Southeast part of Belgrade, close to the highway and surprisingly close to the city center. It is less than 20mn by car on a regular day to get to the Parliament. In that time, you would spend 5 to 10mn to get to Autokomanda, depending of traffic.

Veliki Mokri Lug is located on the Southeast part of Belgrade. It is split in two parts: one nice and one less nice. The location of Kuće Beodom Amadeo project is shown. (source INTERSISTEM Kartografija)

Veliki Mokri Lug is bordered by Medaković III and Padina on the north, the highway on the east, Kumodraž on the south and by an unspoiled area called Kumodraž Field (Kumodraško polje) on the west. Medaković III (all facilities) is easily accessible on the north-west by Cvetanova Ćuprija street.

Two disjoint parts: one nice and one not so nice

Veliki Mokri Lug is split into two disjoint parts that have only the name in common. A simple look at the aerial view below suffices to explain why. Each part is built on each side of two hills, separated by a valley with almost no connection between them. There are only 2 decent roads connecting the 2 sides at each extremity.

The western side (left) is very nice, residential, promising with plenty of space available and is turned toward Medaković III for all facilities.

The eastern side (right) is less nice. It is already very built and has that, sadly too common, pattern of uncontrolled urbanization via illegal constructions. It results in an assembly of unfinished houses, mostly on top of each other, connected by small to medium streets. That eastern side is the biggest part of Veliki Mokri Lug and where is the center located.

The western part of Veliki Mokri Lug

The western part of Veliki Mokri Lug is organized around Cvetanova Ćuprija street, which constitutes the main axis. The street is gently climbling up the hill on which that part of Veliki Mokri Lug sits.

Space to breath

On the west, on the right hand on the view above, is found Kumodraž Field (Kumodraško polje). It is a large reserve of untouched and unspoiled space that one can enjoy.

On the south, Stepin Lug (also known as Titov Gaj or just Gaj) is found. It is a large non residential wooded area of 8,5 km².

Quality of living

The quality of the air, on the hills of Veliki Mokri Lug is known to be excellent. Especially when compared to the one from downtown Belgrade. Even during the hotest summer days, there is some fresh air around.

Some smart people, who could have afforded Dedinje, chose to live in the western part of Veliki Mokri Lug, such as Duda Ivković who built a beautiful house with swimming pool and tennis courts.

And he is not the only one to have made that smart choice.

Conclusion

The western part of Veliki Mokri Lug is a fantastic place to live. All facilities are found in Medaković III and a large Vero supermarket is just few minutes away by car. Thanks to the direct access to the highway, city center is fast and easy to access. Yet, air quality is excellent and free space abound.

We believe that, that part of Belgrade has a lot of room for developing. It is certainly a good place to invest.
