Amadeo II construction update: underfloor heating, screed and painting
|16 September 2010 - Comments (0)||Construction|
Lot of work has been done on Amadeo II during the past few weeks. The installation of the undefloor heating is done as well as the floor screeds. Ceilings and walls painting is finished in one half of the building and being done in the other half. Outside, external walls, stairs and parking ramps are also finished. Installation of titles started this week with a big team.
The main work, that was remaining to be done in Amadeo II, was the installation of the hydronic radiant low-temperature underfloor heating and cooling system. That heating system circulates water at low-temperature (from 25 to 30ºC) in pipes underfloor. Heat is diffused in apartments mainly through radiation (like the heat we receive from the sun) and convection (movement of hot air). It is the best distribution system and certainly the one that provides the best comfort.

Like in Amadeo, because the source of the heat is going to be a geothermal heat pump, the system is reversible in summer and the underfloor heating can provide cooling during the hot days.

Being committed to quality, which is particularly important in the case of underfloor heating, we use the best pipes on the market, made of PE-Xa (cross-linked polyethylene made with the peroxide method), from Rehau. Installation has also to be done by experienced professionals and we continued our collaboration with GP Kombo.

We are planning to detail the installation of the underfloor heating in an upcoming article.
Once the installation of the underfloor heating is completed, the next step is to make the screed which will be heated up by the pipes and diffuse the heat uniformly in the room. That screed is a half dry mix of sand, cement, additives and water.

The screed mix is pumped in the apartment from the mixing pump outside and delivered in the apartment using a dispenser.

Once the screed is finished, it is smoothed using a rotating blade to provide a perfect result.

After the screed, it was time to paint the apartments. More tham half of the building is already finished. Apartments are all done in white so that one can add the color of her liking.

For staircase, we chose a very nice warm yellow-peach color.

Insulation of the roof
The insulation of the roof is now done. It goes with 20cm of rock wool, a vapor barrier and the gyps boards, assembled on a metallic skeleton.
