Amadeo II construction update: roof cover and windows After a week delay because of constant rain, the work on the roof cover restarted. Amadeo II roof will be finished next week. The installation of the Monarperm 500 breather membrane has been completed and installation of Decra-Octava roof tiles is ongoing. Work on the interior walls continues and we started to install windows.

Structural work on the roof

Before starting the roof cover, we had to finish the structure of the roof, the gable walls and the edges of the interior walls below roof. We also have 4 mansard walls for the aesthetic of the building. We also finished the chimneys and ventilation channels and placed insulation around them to prevent condensation.

Waterproofing

Gable walls, mansard walls and roof junctions, done with concrete are all passed with 2 layers of hydro-insulation. We use Bitum Multigum, a combined polymers based material that is passed with a brush. Once dry, it creates a resistant and elastic waterproof layer.

All connections between the galvanized iron elements are soldered. This is the most durable solution. In addition, all galvanized iron elements are later passed with a primer and a protective white paint to extend their longevity.
